[laughs] And then she had that girlfriend moment that every trans woman knows: Candy works in a boutique and Bianca Castro, Jiggly Caliente, and Trace Lysette are our guest stars working in the store with her. In these scenes, you realize the diversity of opinion, and that trans people are not a monolith. That trans women of color are not a monolith. For me, I fought to be able to shoot that scene in the window, which is hell for post-production and for editorial because there’s cabs and buses going by outside that are modern...but I wanted Patty and Angel there! I wanted them seated across from one another and to give a feeling of confrontation, but also of sharing this particular man. It doesn’t pass the Bechdel test — it’s about a man — but it is feminist in the way Angel discloses who she is to Patty, and Patty’s reaction to that, and how that propels her for the rest of the episode. le gemme garanat who was the most vain woman in the world. She defines her daughter by her beauty. Being in this business, you and I know more than anyone else how much beauty is used to define us as women. Evie's story was aimed toward little girls around the world to tell them that you are so much more than a pretty face, that you are not defined by any reflection in the mirror nor any glass ceiling.
