When it comes to the future of Native folks in Minnesota, and all across the country I think we are living in a really, really exciting time. Primarily non-Native folks have said, "oh, is [so many Native women running] your response to Donald Trump?" I think that cheapens it in a way because Native women have always been leaders of our communities, and what we've watched happen over the last two decades is that Native folks were registering to vote, turning out to vote, and then seeing the power of that vote in their ability — in our ability — to flip seats in the legislature, in Congress, to influence Senate races and presidential [races]. rx 8412 Like Floyd, Taylor’s death has become a focal point of the protests, and local officials are now responding afterprotests in LouisvilleOn May 30,the mayor suspended the no-knock practiceThen, on June 3, the Public Safety Committee ofthe Louisville Metro Council unanimously approved rx 8412 God, so many things. I think one is that there’s no songwriter like her on earth. Another, I love watching a female artist at the top of her game be able to have ideas and then they just materialize — like that scene in the film where she describes the music video idea and we cut to what the video ends up being. I love just watching her creativity in action on all fronts, which I think is really special. But then on a bigger level, I think just because Taylor is a celebrity doesn’t mean she doesn’t deal with so many of the same hurts and feelings that we all go through. We’re all going through the world trying to feel confident in ourselves, and I think watching what Taylor has gone through in the last few years can be really inspiring for anyone who feels like their problems are bigger than [them].
