Rainer was raised by a single mother who is a Hollywood mogul, very manipulative and overbearing, and played wonderfully by Perrey Reeves. Part of Rainer's journey throughout the show is getting out from under his mother's thumb and taking back some autonomy of his own life. She's his mother and his producer, and for her, Rainer is effectively her son, and her livelihood starring in her movies, so it's a very complex relationship. My character has nepotism on his side, which only goes so far, because you have to have some talent. Nepotism only gets you in the door.
