“Awkward" was written about a year and a half ago with my producers Peter Zizzo, Mike Mangini, and an incredibly cool and talented artist [named] Imani Coppola. We call ourselves "The Dreaded Us." Sometimes we'll begin with a guitar riff or chord progression and I’ll start singing random melodies. We'll often record voice memos during our little jam sessions then play it back in hopes that we find a cool melody.
